The Steaks Are High In Philly

That's right..."The Steaks" not "The Stakes" are certainly high in Philly.  If you are a person that normally has favorite players and not favorite teams, Philly my have signed your favorite player and made themselves your favorite team during this off-season.  With all of the talent the Eagles are bringing to their team during this off-season; minus the outlandish predictions, they are slowly but surely becoming the "Miami Heat" of the NFL.  So far the Eagles have acquired the following players:

Ryan Harris - He will protect Vick on the left
Jason Babin - Solid Defensive Lineman from the Titans
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - Cornerback
Cullen Jenkins - Defensive Lineman
Nnamdi Asomugha - Shutdown Cover Corner
Vince Young - A replica of Vick (a few mental issues but I think that he will be fine)
Ronnie Brown - Wildcat back from Miami
Steve Smith - If his knee injury does not come in to play, having this guy on one side and Jackson on the other gives the Eagles a crazy one-two receiving tandem.

Go Andy Reid, I hope that  this is his year....unlike the Heat, this team deserves it.

T4, I am offended that you would even compare them to the Miami Heat because these guys in Philly know it will be a dog fight and nothing is promised. In a word, the eagles are humble and expect nothing to be handed to them. They have the pieces and I hope it is Andy Reid's year as well as Vick's year after being totally dissed for the MVP last year. I hope they leave no question that they are the team to beat for the NFC representative in the super bowl. Now I am not a bandwagon fan because I like them but I am a niner through and through but I am a realist and I trust that Philly can and should get it done. If nothing else it will be fun to watch.

Big T...you KNOW how I loves me some Eagles!

Been a fan from a little kid. Had my heart broken twice in the Big Game by them BUT they played a close game both times and it was respectable. Still a loss.

We both chatted about how Vick vs Favre the stats vs the salary and what each brought to each team. I found what he did with the dogs deplorable but he did his time for his crime and it cost him damn near everything. His comeback is something I've monitored and he's genuine and contrite. I firmly believe he's rounded a corner and grew up and listened to the advice of coaches and agents that the past associations don't belong where #7 is going.

That said, last year was AWESOME to see him command an offense. I really rooted for him. I didn't when he played in ATL because he was ad-libbing like Barry Sanders in the backfield...was supposed to go right...went left...looked downfield and ran for 30 yards. When your QB is the rushing leader for your team...YOU got problems! He was a piece of the O and Reid exploited other D's with him. Philly has always been the most dangerous with a mobile gifted passer and with Vick they have it again. McNabb was a purr pocket passer that was lucky to lumber for 15 yards. He'd drop his shoulder and take a hit but you really don't want to see a QB get up from the ground like that. You'd really rather see him run for 30 and dance to the sidelines untouched!

Load him up with WR and the deadliest TE and the passing game is ready to go...load up on the ruining and we're off to the races!

We've already talked about the changes they've made to the D...that secondary is going to rob QB's blind this year...at least I hope so.

Grossman is fussing that the Redskins are being overlooked and that's for a reason...Shan STILL doesn't have the players to play his D scheme andhe has a Gator as a QB...that's not going to win him any damn awards. Just watch!

Here's to this coming season!

Offended, why? When I compared the Eagles to the Heat, I was speaking about their talent only. The Miami Heat put some supreme pieces together in order to make a run at the title. It was the Lebron James "Decision", the dancing parade, and the famous LeBron James line..."not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven.....and when I say that I believe it", championship call-out that made the Heat seem ignorant and prideful. I believe that they thought it would be easier until they had the rough start to their long season. On paper, everyone figured the Heat would be in the hunt for the title. (NOTE: I did not think that they would make it to the championship this year, and I am not a Heat fan for the record)

On paper, everyone is beginning to pick the Eagles for the Superbowl Champions based off of their off-season acquisitions. These teams mirror each other in that regards. I am an Eagles fan. I am an Andy Reid guy….but I am a Detroit Lion before all things. I like what Philly has done and I hope that they take it this year because none of the other teams that I am fond of will.

Oh my goodness, Rex Grossman is a loser! I know that some Bear Fan or Stats Guy will read this and say otherwise, but he is a LOSER. Rex Grossman is the reason why I say, “Just because you make it to the Super Bowl does mean that you belong there”. Rex “Reckless” Grossman’s best year was 2006 when he threw for 3,193 yards, had 23 touchdowns, and then threw 20 interceptions. Nice going Rex!

So now Rex Grossman is with Shanahan and Dan Snider….how fitting. Go figure that the Redskins QB would be the first victim to speak on the Eagles successful picks in the off-season. I don’t even know why this guy would set himself up for such a beating.

Philly vs. DC in week 6 of this year….I will have the BBQ and the TV going….

Rex was able to do what he did because he had a D in Chicago that was turning the ball over! Thus giving him the opportunity to fail.

Really, how many great QB's have come out of The Swamp?

Big T in Denver is gonna be a bust too. He lacked the fundamental QB throwing skills and that's why teams balked on him. Good kid...good leader...poor QB. He's gonna go down running with the ball and snap his leg and the Broncos won't have squat! He'll bounce from the surgury/ies and he'll NEVER run like he used to again thus ending the "threat" he was and he will have to stand in the pocket throwing off his wrong foot and lobbing airbags. He really is a bad passer...watch a game now that he's in the NFL. He's unsound...kinda like watching old game film of Billy Kilmer throwing the ball. Billy was drinking whiskey in the huddles though so at least he could blame it on being drunk!

No, I see Shan getting reamed by EVERYONE this year. I thought he blew the Haynesworth situation beyond where it ever needed to go. He took a guy that NEVER shudder been given that damn much money and played him out of position on the wrong side of the ball. How is that gonna end up being a success? Then thinking that McNabb was gonna be Elway Part Deux? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! There's a reason Reid and the front office said "See ya!" to the Chunky Soup King. Liked him, but he really did choke in the Big Games. The film is there. TO was right. Rush was right. He was over-inflated as a QB. The ONLY reason why they made the SB was Jeff Garcia's playmaking abilities when he went down! Now SHan has scrap to work with and can't bash anyone in the locker room. It's all on his shoulder.

Snyder? Well, what do you think that assclown is gonna do? I'm betting he reaches into his checkbook and pays off another ego bloated coach to ride off into the sunset with his money while he looks for the bones of Lombardi to coach what once was a feared franchise in the NFL. The team NEVER should've moved. When they did they lost the roar of the crowd and the packed house. Look at the stadium now. Read the local papers. They HATE the stadium! Snyder is reaping what he sows and his checkbook has been able to cover the mistakes...another losing year and fans are gonna turn ugly!

I simply don't think they should be compared to the heat. I am fine with saying they are like the Celtics that knew that they had the pieces but did not come out like we should bow based on who they are. Thant being said, I completely understand that most have Philly in the big game and it makes the most sense because predictions are based on what's on paper.

I have liked the Eagles since Randall Cunningham and Mike Quick, and I hope that they can get done this year since my 49ers want to bury all tradition mystique. Anyway, There will be haters for Vick and his squad but as long as he (Vick) continues to lead by example they should be fine. I hope they spank the cowgirls and their overrated QB convincingly so these prognosticators can stop putting Dallas in the Super Bowl.

Bottom line, this Philly team will be fun to watch and I will bring something to throw on the grill T4

Um...remember what I was saying about Big T? Oh yeah...hate to be an "I told ya so"...BUT!

"Sources say the Broncos view Tebow as a major project who was negatively impacted by the lack of an offseason. Having operated almost exclusively out of the shotgun in college, he still lacks smoothness when taking snaps directly from center: Whereas the Broncos’ other three quarterbacks anticipate the snap and are already into their drop upon receiving it, Tebow typically is locked in place, meaning he’s already behind in his timing upon the beginning of a play.

For all the talk about Tebow’s need to improve his mechanics, Broncos sources say his lack of familiarity with running a pro-style offense is an even more egregious issue. As one executive says, “Forget about how he delivers the ball, or how accurate it is. First he has to know where to go with it.”

Tebow’s bosses still believe his work ethic and character may allow him to overcome these deficiencies and develop into a starting-caliber quarterback down the road. In the meantime, they are handing the keys of Fox’s ball-control offense to Orton, a move that seems to have been well-received in the locker room."

When will people learn that U of F can't churn out a decent QB? Never have...never will.
