Maybe It Is Not the Internet, Maybe It Is You

Life is a blessing that is granted to us from God (for me all honor and praise goes to Jesus the Christ). Our ability to think, create, strategize, believe, comprehend, and etcetera, all came as a part of that blessing.

The Internet is a tool created by man with an ability given to him from God. The intent of the Internet was to create a virtual environment that would allow us the freedom to research, learn, purchase, communicate, conduct business, and etcetera, from anywhere in the world at any given moment.

Now that we have an understanding of how I view both of these things, I can get into my point. I cannot agree with people when I hear them say, “The Internet is the Devil himself”, or phrases similar to that point of view. The Internet in its pure intended state is a blessing in my opinion.  The problem with the Internet is the people and the way they have decided to use it, not the creation of it.  That is why the Internet is a scary virtual parallel to our physical world and that state that our society is in today.  Theft, pornography, explicit language, exploitation, drugs, viruses, racism, news, radical ideas, visual art, literature, music, church services, sermons, family pictures, accomplishments, mail services, phone calls, and more, all exist on the Internet just like inhabit our physical society.
With all that we know about the Internet and the immorality that it can expose us to with ease, we must do the same thing that we do in our physical society to combat this from happening in our virtual world.  Do not part take in it.  Get software that will limit your surfing parameters to only allow your household to navigate to websites that you use for the needs in your life. Block the pop-ups that you get when surfing. In the same manner that protect your body by taking vitamins and meds; protect your PC by using virus protection software and running periodic health checks. Stop going to websites that you should not go to, clicking on links that you should not click on, and stop lying about what happened when your computer suffers the consequences.  Set time parameters on how long the internet is accessible in your house. Do you remember the phrase “nothing good happens after midnight”?  If you do not stay out all night or allow your children to do so, then why is Internet access granted for you and your children all night.
In conclusion, we must stop blaming others around us for what we do not take ownership and responsibility for.  I am not saying that life and the Internet does not make it hard for us to be the righteous people that some of us would like to be.  I am saying that we must realize everyone does not want to be righteous and we cannot let them prevent us from what we would like to be. We must stay educated about what we can do to set the proper boundaries in place for not only or children and their PCs, tablets, and smart devices, but for ourselves as well.  Stop thinking that everyone else needs to be policed, monitored, or restrained, and you don’t.

People, Can You "Lin" Me Your Ears

I have stayed away from the topic all week except for a few tweets here and there. I love the fact that the Knicks are probably the third best team on the East right now. I just wanna ask everyone including the media to slooooooow down on this Lin thing a bit. Jeremy Lin is doing great things and is a great story, however lets take a good look at the whole Story. The Knicks have beaten New Jersey (8-23), Utah (14-14), Washington (7-23), Lakers (17-12), Minnesota (14-16), Toronto (9-22), and Sacramento (10-19)....that means with J. Lin at the helm, they have only beaten one team over .500.  That said, he has only played one top ten point guard, Darin Williams. Lets not get it twisted, I think he is playing fantastic and I know that most of the wins came without Melo and Stats, but really people...."the best"...."unstoppable"...."Lintentdo"? NOT AT EXACTLY. Lets give the guy some credit. Lets watch the Knicks grow, but lets not crown them "Kings of the East" until they win a playoff series. Watch out for Philly, Chicago, and Miami.....and not in that order.

Wait and see......but in the meantime, congrats Lin-sanity!
